What I love most about Amy's Open Space is it allow students to get involved with social issues we face. It is similar to Congressman Owens Cougar Think Tank in which students met once a week to discuss current events in his office. The result of Major's meetings is the fight that exist for the Bedford Union Ave. Armory today.
If we want students to become leaders of tomorrow, they must find solutions today.
In order to give Amy more time, we can hand out surveys asking the students to list what issues they are most passionate about with name, phone number and email attached before they enter the auditorium; Amy can give her full presentation on Open Space, we sort the results for a follow-up and contact the students to meet a later date with the panelist that presented the topic.
Amy's presentation is very important. The panelist will give the audience Knowledge; however, together we will find the wisdom to tackle the problems. When the time is right and students arrive at a solution, they can present it to one of our political leaders.
Moreover, it was MEC students that created Congressman Hakeem Jeffries law to count people arrested in the state they where arrested on the census to curb gerrymandering.
What Amy presents is too important shorten; Therefore, we can do it in 3 parts.
1) People chose their passion before entering.
2). Amy explain the concept of Open Space during
